Help for carers

Help for carers

Canary Care supports formal and informal carers by providing information about needs and changes on a day-to-day basis. In this way care can be adapted in response to new circumstances:

  • Responsive care packages
  • Evidence of the care delivered through the visitor card
  • Alerts can be provided to carers and/or families

Providing Stewart with a voice

Stewart’s story

Stewart, a 41-year-old man with learning disabilities, lives in supported living accommodation with 24-hour care staff on duty.

How Canary helped

Canary identified that Stewart was very active for a few hours a night, in his bedroom. As well as being non-verbal, Stewart would often stay in his room: so staff greatly valued the insight provided by Canary to help identify his needs.

Staff introduced sensory equipment to Stewart’s room to relax and calm him before bed. They also increased the number of visits they made to his room to help reassure him. Following these interventions Stewart was much less restless.
