On Tuesday 23 September 2025, leaders from across health, care, policy, and technology will gather at Google London to explore how innovation can transform the way we deliver care.

Hosted by Canary Care, Empowering Independence: Harnessing Tech & Data for Better Care Outcomes is set to shine a spotlight on the role of digital technologies and inclusive data in creating safer, more independent lives for people.

Keynote speakers and panel line-up

The evening begins with a keynote from Sir Bernard Silverman FRS, former Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Home Office, Emeritus, Professor of Statistics at University of Oxford and Chair of the Royal Society Disability Technology Project Steering Committee – who will share his vision for how digital assistive technologies and inclusive data can reshape care for people with disabilities.

He’ll be joined by Ian Burgess, Managing Director of Canary Care, who will bring real-world insights into how passive monitoring and smart data can reduce risk while preserving dignity.

An expert panel, chaired by Dame Barbara Hakin (former Deputy Chief Executive, NHS England), will bring together voices from across the sector, including:

• Dr Lucinda Scharff – Staff Clinical Specialist, Google.
• Jenna Collins – Innovation & Improvement Programme Manager, The Health Foundation.
• Charles Lowe – Chief Executive, Digital Health & Care Alliance.
