Step-by-step installation

We’ve designed our installation process to be as simple as possible. Once your kit arrives, simply scan the QR Code and you’ll be directed to a full guide in the Canary Care app. Here’s what you should expect.

Yes! We’ve put together a full guide to walk you through every part of your install – just scan the QR Code when your package arrives and you’ll be prompted to download the Canary Care app.

You’ll find a QR Code on the back of your Canary Care hub, which links your device to the Canary Care app for a quick, secure start. If you’ve already downloaded the app, it’ll detect your device ID automatically and open the app. If not, it’ll open the app store ready for you to download.

Once your kit arrives, you can get started with Canary Care in 5 simple steps.

  • Step 1: Plug in the Canary Care Hub.
  • Step 2: Scan the QR Code on the back of the hub.
  • Step 3: Connect your hub to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to help with the initial set up.
  • Step 4: Set up your sensors and sync them to your hub.
  • Step 5: Monitor all your insights directly from the Canary Care Portal.

For a deeper dive into the set-up journey, check out our dedicated guide here.

If you want to move your hub to a new location, or to a new home – no problem. Simply turn off the power, unplug the hub and plug into the power supply at the new location. It may take a few minutes to re-establish connection – a solid green network light will switch on when the hub is successfully back online.

Don’t forget – you might need to also move your sensors so they’re in range of your new hub location.

Additional sensors can be added to your Canary Care system any time to detect movement, light, power usage, temperature, and humidity. You can purchase additional sensors from our Canary Care Shop and install them using our installation app.

The new Canary Care Multi-Function Sensors and Humidity Sensors require two AAA batteries, while Vibration Sensors require circle batteries – all of which should last at least 12 months. Don’t worry, when they starts to run low and need to be replaced, we’ll send you an email or a text message in plenty of time so you can stock up.

To replace batteries in your sensor, first remove it from the wall by firmly gripping it and stretching the contact strip vertically until the sensor is released. Once the batteries are replaced, reattach the sensor using a new contact strip.
